• Focused Evaluation

Every four years teachers will participate in the comprehensive evaluation process. New teachers will be on the Comprehensive Evaluation Model for the first three years. If a non-provisional teacher has scored at Proficient or higher the previous year, they will be evaluated using the Focused Evaluation. This process is encourages collaboration among colleagues in professional learning communities. Of the eight Washington State Criteria, one of the criteria must be assessed in every year that a comprehensive evaluation is not required.

The criteria use the same rubrics as the comprehensive evaluation, however, each criterion includes small pieces of each of the 5D Domains and only a few of the rubrics are used. You encouraged to pick criterion 3 (Differentiation), criterion 6 (Assessment), or criterion 8 (Professional Practice). If you would like to focus on 1, 2, 4, 5, or 7 you must also complete the student growth rubric for criterion 3 or 6.

Area of Focus Form :This form includes everything that you need in one place. It has the self evaluation, questions that may be discussed with your principal, the form for student growth, and the summary page that you and your principal will sign.
    Additional Resources:

Self-Evaluation: Use this tool to determine whether you are Unsatisfactory, Basic, Proficient, or Distinguished in all of the different rubrics. Use the TPEP binder or visit the rubrics on-line to determine your level.
When you are finished, summarize your key areas of weakness and determine how you would like to improve in those areas. Frequently administrators are willing help you make this plan, find a colleague to help you, or even set-up times for you to observe other teachers. Conversations about these areas are extremely valuable to the process of growth.
We use the 5D+ model for evaluation and for professional development, but your overall score is calculated from 8 state criteria. The rubrics are exactly the same, but they are just organized differently. This worksheet allows you to calculate your score for the state.
